Baby It's Cold Outside...

Hello Hello! It is almost February and to many people's dismay, it is still winter. I happen to not mind it since it has been a decently mild winter so far (knock on wood). I will even go as far as to say that I am a little disappointed that it really only "snow snowed" once this winter. But enough about snow, today I wanted to share with you a few of the things I cannot live without in the winter time…Here goes...

My 7 Winter Essentials:

1. My "get cozy" slippers from Aerie

You guys, not only are these adorable, they are comfy and oh so warm. Sometimes my feet get so warm they start to sweat a little! I don't believe they still have these exact slippers at Aerie but you can find other ones here.

2. My leopard print pajama leggings from Pink Victoria's Secret

I normally just wear shorts to bed, even in the winter, because I can't stand the way pants ride up in But on nights when I am particularly freezing I will whip these bad boys out. Since they are leggings they are tight so they don't bunch up all night. Plus I love the color pink and I am really into leopard prints right now. meow. :)

3. Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil Light face serum

I don't usually consider myself to have dry skin, I am more normal to oily if I had to choose, but in the winter I think everyone's skin gets a little dryer than normal. So I like to use this face serum after I wash and tone my face. It is all natural and organic so you can pretty much put it on anything, your face, hair, nails, etc. There is a regular version as well which I actually haven't tried but I think the light is just enough for me. (This product is also a Jaclyn Hill recommendation!)

4. Soap and Glory's Hand Food, hand and body cream

Keeping with the dry skin theme--my hands get super dry in the winter time from the harsh air and all the hand washing so I must have this lotion in my purse at all times. Now I must say I am not a huge lotion person, especially on my hands because I just don't like that greasy feeling and sometimes the scents can be overwhelming--So when my friend Annie, who is also makeup obsessed like me, told me to try this I was skeptical. Once I did though I immediately fell in love. It is not greasy at all, yet it is thick and creamy enough to be extremely moisturizing. Also, it has a very light, almost fresh scent that isn't over powering at all. (Available at Sephora)

5. My agave lip mask by Bite Beauty

If you have dry, chapped lips you NEED this in your life...NOW. This lip mask is the bomb. I have been truly struggling with dry and cracked lips lately and I fell like this is the only thing that keeps my lips from completely breaking off my face. I put it on every night before I go to bed and when I wake up I can still feel it on my lips. It. Is. Heavenly. (Also available at Sephora)

6. A good coffee mug

I love Starbucks. Some may say I have an addiction and I won't necessarily disagree. But I got a new Kuerig for Christmas that I cannot wait to set up in my new condo and start making coffee at home. I just like the idea of cuddling up with a nice blanket and hot coffee or tea on a Sunday morning. Now I like to have a lot of mugs and this is one that I actually painted myself at The Pottery Place off North Bend Road. It was a ton of fun and they have lots of pieces to choose from.

7. A big cozy scarf

Everyone needs a big chunky scarf to shield them against the winter winds. I love this because it's just a big fluffy turtle neck you can take on and off when needed. I got this one from Aerie by American Eagle.

So there you have it! My 7 Winter obsessions. What are some things you guys can't live without in the winter? Comment below!

Happy 2015!

It's a new year!! It is 2015 and big things are happening this year. I am in 3 weddings already, 1 in June, 1 in October and 1 in November. My sister Crissy is having her second baby on February 10th and I will be an aunt for the 3rd time! Fifty Shades of Grey and Pitch Perfect 2 come out this year. My mom is moving out of her condo (aka the unofficial nursing home) and more importantly out of Delhi all together.

And perhaps the most exciting thing of 2015 is that I will be moving out completely on my own for the first time. I have lived in a dorm, and in apartments with my other people but never in my own place all by myself. I am renting my cousin's condo starting in February. I will put up pictures once I get it decorated nice--if that ever even happens!

I'll be 25 this year as well...YIKES! that seems crazy to me. I am half way finished with my 20's! My 20's have definitely been interesting to say the least. But hopefully it means I will get my life together soon.

I am hoping to get organized on here and start doing maybe some tutorials or at the very least some more interesting topics so STAY TUNED this year!!

Name Change

Incase you didn't notice, I decided to change the name of this blog from Beuty Rush to Brunette Bias for a couple of reasons:

1. I figured if this blog was going to be about more than just makeup and stuff it should have a different name.

2. I didn't like the misspelling of "be-u-ty"

3. I got the idea from reading Lea Michele's book Brunette Ambition. (interesting book)

4. I am brunette and I just liked the name better in general :)

So there you have it. I can't seem to figure out how to get the title of the blog actually back on the page for some reason but I am working on it. I also changed around the background and colors, giving it a new-and hopefully slightly better look. Hope you like it!!

I Don't Remember Signing Up for This

It is one of those things they never telling you growing up. Okay, so maybe it is one of those things they tell you repeatedly growing up but being an adult is hard. You have responsibilities, a job to keep, a house to pay for, bills to pay, etc. etc. etc.

When I was in college, I could not wait to graduate and start making money, real money. I have never been a fan of school, like ever. I used to try and pretend I was sick all the time to get out of it (just ask my mom). Don't get me wrong, I loved college. I just didn't like the actual school part of it. I was also working 25-35 hours a week at my part time job at Victoria's Secret so I felt like I was working full time but making nothing. I was sick of having homework every night and being broke from barely making minimum wage.

So when the day finally came and I walked across the stage as they called my name, my REAL name (thanks again, mom and dad...) I immediately felt this sense of great accomplishment. I mean I know a lot of people graduate college these days but it is still a huge thing I sometimes thought I might not get to. The first couple of months were awesome. I just had to work part time at VS and I got to watch my nephew, Lucas, 2-3 days a week. Babysitting him was something I wouldn't change for anything, although it did make me realize just how much work a child can be. But thats a whole other story in itself.

Eventually I started feeling kind of lost, where is my life going? What kind of job am I going to get? How am I going to pay my student loans? Am I going to live with my mom forever? Is there even the slightest chance Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake will ever get back together? Real questons.

Today I have a full time job in Marketing, definitely making more money than I was before but waking up at the same time every morning and going to the same place day in and day out can get monotonous. I love routine, until it gets boring.

This is def my problem

I am 24 years old now, I still have no idea what I am doing with my life in the future. Except I am about to move out completely on my own for the first time so I am sure many blog worthy stories will follow. I am about to do an adult like thing and I still feel like I am 16.

When I younger I always thought what my older sisters were doing was forever away and when the time came for me to go through whatever it was I would feel ready because I would be older. Well boy was I wrong! Wisdom does not just come from age, and I am not saying that to sound preachy, it is just a fact. I sometimes call my mom or sisters 10+ times a day to ask them questions or advice. I am the baby of the family, what did you expect?

I just want to know, when did it become not okay to sleep until noon each day and stay in your pajamas for 48 hours? When did watching an entire season on Netflix become strange and lazy and not just funny (or simply amazing?) If wanting to lay on the couch and watch Vampire Diaries with my best friend all day long is wrong, then I don't think I want to be right.

Again I will say: I do not remember signing up for this!

grown up but not really,
Michelle

Finally Some Makeup! Small Ulta Haul

Hey Guys!

I am finally back with a real post for ya! Today I wanted to do a haul. I recently went to Ulta to indulge in their 20% off sale (like I needed an excuse…) I walked away with some pretty great stuff:

1. Tarte Holilday "Away Oui Go" Giftset. You guys this thing is amazeballs. It has 16 eye shadows that are to die for, 4 Amazonian Clay blushes, 3 deluxe maracuja lipglosses, 1 deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara, and a cute portable compact. You can pop out one of the 4 palettes, put in in the compact, and go! Perfect for the Holidays.
2. Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation in Medium Beige and the Airbuki powder foundation brush. Okay, I am still on the fence about this one, I have been using Bare Minerals powder foundation (also in Medium Beige) for quite some time now and lately I just find it leaving my face dull and blah. So I wanted to switch it up and I have heard some good things about the Tarte foundation. I like to wear a powder foundation during the week because it takes me less than 5 minutes to do my makeup in the morning before work and I am all about getting as much beauty sleep as possible (and pressing the snooze button as many times as I dare). I tried the Tarte foundation and at first found it very blotchy and hard to blend. I think the color may be a little too yellow for my skin as well. After another day or 2 of applying, I liked it a little better but I am still unsure if I would ever buy this product again. I'll keep you posted. :)
 3. Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow in Barely Branded. I really like the consistency of these eyeshadows. I have a couple of the colors now and they are just easy to work with and you don't need a  brush to apply, I usually just use my fingers!

4. Maybelline Lipsticks from the new Matte line in Touch of Spice and Devine Wine. Send out the Hallelujah chorus!! these lippies are heavenly. I am obsessed with them. They are both great colors for Fall. Touch of Spice is my Holy Grail lipstick, it never leaves my side. The formula is really creamy (especially for a matte) and they are very pigmented. I have been really into the matte craze lately so these are perfect for me. I want more colors!! (top swatch: Divine Wine. Middle: Touch of Spice. Bottom: Barely Branded). Then there is me participating in Sunday Bun day and of course rocking the Touch of Spice.

So that was my Ulta Haul you guys, I hoped you liked it and it wasn't too long winded. :) Happy Sunday!

Michelle
